Wednesday Wrap-Up - 10/4/17

Editing is coming along nicely on Old School Evil.  I'm planning on having this last draft done by the end of the month.  I started writing Old School Evil on November 1st, 2014, and it'll feel good wrapping it up in just three years.  I had originally hoped it wouldn't take this long to get it ready for publication, but I don't think it was really realistic.  The next book looks like it'll take the same amount of time as well, I hope - it might be ready by next Halloween!  Who knows?

A big portion of the editing right now is finding places to reference more cartoons.  I don't want to shoehorn most of them in, so I'm looking for places where they fit the best.  In the first few drafts of the book, I mainly stuck with cartoons I grew up watching and shied away from those I wasn't very familiar with.  But I want my main character to be as much of a geek or bigger than me and know just about every cartoon on the air in his youth.  That's one of the best parts about the Villain Retrospect series - learning about all the great cartoons I missed.  Ones that deserve a mention or two in my book.  If I can fit them all in Old School Evil, that would be great, but there's obviously going to be places for them in subsequent books.  So if I don't mention a cartoon you love in this one, I'm sure you'll find it in the next book or two.

Once editing is done on this book at the end of this month, that'll give me two months to work on the cover and the appendix material for the book.  I've got a lot of logos to do, but I'm looking forward to making them as detailed as possible.  I'm thinking it would be cool to make pins for each of the logos, if I can.

You might be wondering about NaNo this November.  True, I have written all of the Old School Evil first drafts so far during NaNo and I did win all three of those years, but I feel life with a little kid is going to make it too difficult - not to mention last year I felt like a huge ass hole during it.  So I'm skipping it this year to focus on more artistic endeavors.
