Newsletter Woes

I think this post has been coming for a long time. I've had a newsletter here on Old School Evil for a while. I can't remember when I started it, but since then, I have done practically nothing with it besides updating my reader magnet. I have never sent an email through it besides the welcome message.

The truth is, I've only ever had eight subscribers. Two were me, and two were a former friend. I'm not even sure why he's still following me at this point. Of the other half of my subscribers, two were from the last year, and the others... I don't even know how long they'd been subscribed.

Something about the whole process of getting people to sign up for a newsletter has always been daunting. Some of it was how to set it up through Mailchimp and Wix. Some of it was figuring out what to even give someone that was worth subscribing. All I knew was that everyone says newsletters were vital to selling books. Maybe they're right. I don't think I'll ever know.

But what I do know is that I'm wasting my time trying to do it here. So I've decided the newsletter on my site is going away. I've got a Substack account and will continue to post updates about my work there. If you want to keep following my work, check it out here.

For the few of you here who signed up to support me here, know that I appreciate you. I am sorry I've never done anything here to recognize you. I hope to see you over there.
